Force and Interactions (F01)القوة والتفاعلات (F01)
Force and Interactions
Fnet = F1 + F2 + F3 + …
- A force is a push or a pull; more precisely, an interaction between two objects.
- A force can change an object’s velocity, so it causes acceleration.
- Force is a vector: it has magnitude and direction.
- The net force is the vector sum of all forces acting on the object.
Unit: newton (N) = kg·m/s²الوحدة: النيوتن (N) = kg·m/s²

Newton’s First Law (F03)قانون نيوتن الأول (F03)
Newton’s First Law
Fnet = 0 ⇒ a = 0
An object at rest stays at rest, and a moving object continues in uniform motion (constant velocity in a straight line), if and only if the net force is zero.
- Fnet,x = 0 and Fnet,y = 0Fnet,x = 0 و Fnet,y = 0
- No “cause” is needed for motion.
- Uniform motion is the “natural state” of an object.
- Example: a book resting on a table.

Newton’s Second Law
Fnet = ma
- Fnet,x = m ax and Fnet,y = m ayFnet,x = m ax و Fnet,y = m ay
- a is directly proportional to Fnet and inversely proportional to m.
- The direction of a is the same as the direction of the net force.
- It is the connection between force and motion.

m = 4 kg: 25 N and 5 N right, 10 N left25 N و 5 N لليمين، 10 N لليسار
Fnet = 25 + 5 − 10 = 20 N
a = 20 / 4 = 5 m/s²
Fnet = 25 + 5 − 10 = 20 N
a = 20 / 4 = 5 m/s²

Newton’s Third Law
“For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”“لكل فعل رد فعل مساوٍ له في المقدار ومعاكس له في الاتجاه.”
FA on B = −FB on A
- The two forces have the same magnitude but opposite directions.
- They act on different objects, so they never cancel each other.
- Example: the hammer pushes the nail, and the nail pushes back on the hammer.

Apparent Weight
Apparent weight wapp is the magnitude of the supporting contact force (normal force) — the scale reading.
| At rest or constant velocityساكن أو بسرعة ثابتة | wapp = w |
| Accelerating upward (feels heavier)تسارع لأعلى (يشعر بثقل) | wapp = w + ma |
| Accelerating downward (feels lighter)تسارع لأسفل (يشعر بخفة) | wapp = w − ma |
- w = mg is the true weight.w = mg
- Find the direction of acceleration first, then choose the formula.

Down: 30 × 9.8 − 30 × 3 = 204 N30 × 9.8 − 30 × 3 = 204 N :لأسفل
Example (like 3.13)مثال (يشبه 3.13)

w = 45 × 9.8 = 441 N < 460 N → a upwardالتسارع لأعلى
a = (460 − 441) / 45 = 0.422 m/s²
w = 45 × 9.8 = 441 N < 460 N → a upwardالتسارع لأعلى
a = (460 − 441) / 45 = 0.422 m/s²
Key Pointنقطة مهمةThe scale reading tells the direction of acceleration, not necessarily the direction of motion.
